Karl Dappen
Saxophone
karldappen@aol.com
Karl has been playing professionally for many years, performing solo and with several pop, rock, blues and jazz groups. He spent three years touring the Midwest, south and northeast with a ten piece show band, playing in the rock/dance format. Along with the SwingBlade duo, Karl has performed with bands like the Jazzcasters, a four-piece jazz combo.
Supported by custom-designed musical arrangements and additional electronic equipment, Karl’s music can sound like a jazz quartet or a full orchestra. Using a wide range of musical styles from adult contemporary, light jazz, standards, to classic rock, or any favorite song, this talented musician takes an audience from the ever popular standards “Summertime” and “Take Five” to the bluesy “Moondance”, and “Masquerade”, then on to the contemporary latin sounds of “Shaker Song”, the classic rock “Green-Eyed Lady” and “Deacon Blues” and into the Swing tempos of “In The Mood (Medley)” and “Satin Doll”.
Karl has three CDs available - Judiciary Street and laidbacklatenight are inventive approaches incorporating digitally mastered sequences as background music for his saxophone solos. His third CD, Sounds of Christmas, is a collection of classic holiday favorites using the same music format.
